Stop Typing, Start Clicking: Make Bookings Faster with Advanced PKeys

Faster commands, fewer mistakes
Travel agents often lose hours each week typing the same GDS commands again and again. Fare quotes. Seat requests. Queue moves. Each one takes just a few seconds, but they add up fast.
There’s a faster way: use advanced PKeys in TTS WebAgent and Travelport Mobile Agent (TMA). These shortcuts save you time, reduce mistakes, and let you focus on your clients, not your keyboard.
What’s a PKey?
A PKey is a button that sends a saved GDS command when you click it. You can save short or long commands. You can even add fields like the date or passenger name that you fill in when using the key.
PKeys are stored online. Set them up once, and they’ll work on both desktop and mobile. Make a change on one device, and it updates everywhere.
Why Use PKeys?
They’re useful for everyone:
- Experienced agents already know the commands. PKeys just save time. Clicking once is faster than typing 15 characters.
- New agents can learn faster. After clicking a PKey, TTS WebAgent, or TMA shows the full command it sent. You can see what happened and learn the format. The more you use it, the more familiar it becomes.
You Already Have Some PKeys
TTS WebAgent and TMA come with built-in PKeys. They cover common tasks like:
- Display PNR
- Issue ticket
- Queue move
They’re a great starting point, especially for new users. However, you can only edit or delete the PKeys that you’ve created yourself. Pre-installed keys are there as examples and can’t be changed.
To manage your own keys:
- Open the PKeys panel.
- Tap the three dots next to a key you created.
- Choose Edit to rename it, change the command, or add fields.
How to Set Up Your Own PKey
Here’s how to create an advanced PKey in a few steps:
Open the PKeys panel:
- Click Terminal → then the menu icon in the lower right → then PKeys tab.
Click ”+” to create a new key. Use a short, clear name like “CORP PRICE.”
Enter your command. You can add fields like or where needed.
Decide if it should Auto Execute. If yes, the key runs the command as soon as you click it. If not, it gives you a preview first.
Everyday Tasks You Can Speed Up
Here are examples of tasks that are easier with PKeys:
- Issue a ticket
- Email an itinerary
- Apply a corporate fare
- Move a booking to a queue
- Add a meal request
If you type just 10 of these each day, that’s 50 lines of typing gone. That means fewer mistakes and more time for your actual work.
Keep Things Simple and Safe
To avoid confusion or mistakes:
- Use clear names for your keys
- Test new PKeys on a test PNR first
- Delete keys you don’t use
- Assign a backup person to manage your PKeys in case you’re away.
Small Time Savings Add Up
A study from The Predictive Index says the average person types 40 words per minute. Admin workers might reach 60.
If you type 2,000 characters in a busy hour, about 130 of those are just corrections. That’s almost three minutes lost, just fixing errors. A PKey removes all those risks for that task. One click. No mistakes.
W What You Can Do Next
If you’re already using a tool like TTS WebAgent or TMA, try setting up just one PKey for a task you do often. Use it for a day and see how much time you save.
If you’re not using these tools yet, now you know what’s possible. Whether you’re on a full desktop GDS or working from a mobile device, using shortcuts like PKeys helps reduce typing, cut down on errors, and speed up your workflow.
